Frequently Asked Questions

We like to give two answers when we hear this - 1) it is never too early to start saving 2) a brief consult before junior year to discuss course load and expectations is advised

No, there is no focus.  We do like to make sure students are aware of more than just colleges in their backyard. NESCAC, Patriot League, Atlantic League, and smaller liberal arts colleges are as fun for us to discuss with you as large state universities. 

Unfortunately there are many.  Two are worth noting: 1) Do you have an inch wide mile deep commitment to activities or just a long list of activities?  One high school student interview was asked about her activities.  The list was so long it was hard to remember the first one when she had finished.  More is not always better.  2) While interviewing for a well known college in Washington, DC a student was asked 'why here, why DC?".  The answer, I  think I would like politics (ugh).  The follow-up question was 'tell me more about that, what about politics?'.  Nada, nothing for a response; a true verbal tragedy.  Be prepared to interview and be prepared to differentiate yourself from THOUSANDS of others. 

Yes, we charge hourly for the time you need and no more.  College is expensive enough and paying a firm many, many thousands for time and work you don't need is simply 'not our thing'.  Tap our resources and expertise only when you need them.

Unfortunately we can't be all things to all people (we hope we can be all things to some people though).  Performing and fine art candidates (sorry, we just can't tell if you are the next Picasso or Sinatra to help guide you), those pursuing the military academies (thank you for attending an academy but this is a distinct admissions process) and those looking to attend an overseas school all fall outside of our scope.
